Pastor Ball and Pastor Brondos have been conducting congregational visits in the homes of members during October and November. It has been a time for us all to get to know each other better and to grow together in God's Word -- or in the words of our post communion collect: to live "in faith toward God and in fervent love toward one another."

Pastor Ball provided the Invocation and Benediction at the Veterans' Day event held on Friday, November 11, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. in Veterans Park on the corner of Grand and Sunnyside. All the St. Paul's Lutheran School children walked to the park (about a block away from school) to sang "God Bless Our Native Land" from The Lutheran Hymnal. 8th Grade student Meghan Wilkinson read a poem entitled "Courage." In all, it was a fitting tribute for and remembrance of those who have served in the armed forces of our nation.

Students from Miss Kruse's 5th and 6th Grade class visited Mrs. Dorothy Struck on her 98th birthday. They sang some hymns and heard some wonderful stories from Mrs. Struck's experiences. They promised to come back for her 100th birthday!

Culver's Night a Success

Church members and school families braved the weather on Monday, January 17, and ate at Culver's on Ogden Ave for a delicious fund raiser.

10% of the proceeds from each order was given to St. Paul's Lutheran school. Coupled with matching grants from Tnemec, BMA and Fuller's, over $700 was raised for the school. (A large part of this will be used for desk atlases and a moon globe for students to use in class.)

At one point, every table in the restaurant was filled with members and families from our church and school. A big thank you to Mr. and Mrs. Craig Taylor for organizing this event. Look for additional Culver's nights in the months to come.

St. Paul's and the 2011 Blizzard

February blew into Brookfield with 50 mph winds and 20+ inches of snow. The Tuesday evening deacons meeting went on as scheduled but with the option for deacons to call in via conference call. The Wednesday morning Matins service was canceled and the school was closed on Wednesday and Thursday.

Our gratitude goes to all those who shoveled extraordinary amounts of snow from the sidewalks and the parking lot, including Fuller's, David Wackrow, Scott Paisker, Kevin Krueger, and Erich Lams.
